Guyra Association and the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS) are the newest supporters of the Institute

LIFE Institute, responsible for managing LIFE Certificate, has widened its roll of institutional partners. The Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS) and Association Guyra Paraguay are now part of the group of companies and entities supporting this innovative and pioneering project. The LIFE Certification System was created taking into account current international scenarios and trends on corporate behavior towards biodiversity.

Guyra will be responsible for implementing the LIFE Certificate in Paraguay. On a second moment, the Association will be driving the expansion of the Certification System to other Mercosur countries.

“The LIFE Certificate is the first opportunity in the planet for linking environmental responsibility towards biodiversity conservation with responsible businesses. The LIFE Certificate will be granting these companies the opportunity to capitalize on investments geared towards biodiversity conservation improvement and, as a result, they will be investing on their own business”, says Alberto Yanosky, Guyra’s Executive Director.

The partnership will also make possible to share knowledge and experiences, as well to transfer information and technical data, therefore ensuring the continuous improvement and enhancement of LIFE Certification System Guidelines. Additionally, professionals from both entities will be able to share technical information, aiming to localize the Certification to each country in the Mercosur area.

The partnership with CEBDS involves a series of collaborative efforts between the two entities. Among them, CEBDS will be helping LIFE Institute to access CEBDS’s member companies in order to promote information exchange.  CEBDS will be also promoting events on the “Business and Biodiversity” theme. CEBDS’s technical and management staff will be collaborating with LIFE Institute through committees created for developing and fine tuning the methodology and guidelines to be used within CEBDS’s initiatives.

“Guyra’s and CEBDS’s support is an important step in the LIFE Institute path. Our project has always aimed to not only strengthen our Certification System within companies in Brazil but also to, eventually, take it to an international certification status. Our new partnership with these organizations will bring together the drive to protect biological diversity and natural areas, both domestically and in the Mercosur area ”, points out Maria Alice Alexandre, LIFE Institute’s Executive Secretary.

Besides these two new supporters, LIFE Institute counts with a wide range of partnerships and alliances, including AVINA Foundation, O Boticário Foundation for Nature Protection, Posigraf, SPVS (Society for Wildlife Research and Environmental Education), Itaipu Dam (Brazil & Paraguay), MPX, Secretariat Executive for United Nations’ Convention for Biodiversity, Ministry for the Environment, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Municipality of Curitiba, Positiva Informatica, BDO, FUNBIO (Fundo Brasileiro of Biodiversity), Tecpar (Instituto of Tecnologia do Parana), Master Comunicação, UNILIVRE (University Livre do Meio Ambiente) and Zigh Koch.
